Assistant Hunter-Jumper Horse Trainer (Hawthorne Hill, LLC)

Hawthorne Hill, a premier competitive horse farm located in Dublin, OH, is seeking a skilled and experienced Assistant Trainer to join our team. As a leading equestrian facility, we are dedicated to excellence in horsemanship, training, and competition. We are seeking someone who loves teaching students of all ages to help us develop competitive equestrians.

Responsibilities 

  • Provide expert instruction to riders of all ages and experience levels, focusing on proper technique, horsemanship, and safety.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive training programs for hunter-jumpers at varying skill levels. Riding and showing may be available based on riding ability but not required for the job.
  • Evaluate horse and rider partnerships to identify areas for improvement and tailor training plans accordingly.
  • Prepare horses and riders for competitions, including schooling shows and rated competitions.
  • Oversee the care and maintenance of horses, ensuring their health, well-being, and peak performance.
  • Assistant with some barn management items, such as scheduling farrier, ordering grain and organizing the online lesson calendar.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively instruct and motivate riders.
  • Experience and knowledge in the hunter-jumper industry, with a track record of success in competition.
  • Knowledge of hunter-jumper training techniques, principles, and best practices.
  • Dedication to the welfare and development of both horses and riders.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, to accommodate training and competition schedules.

Hawthorne Hill includes 21 permanent stalls with Dutch doors, 2 large medical stalls in a heated clinic, an 80 X 120 ft indoor arena, a 100 X 200 ft. outdoor arena, 6 all-weather paddocks, 5 grass paddocks, a full kitchen, outdoor entertainment area with built-in grill, pond, trails and a heated club room with a viewing area and tack lockers. We have an established clientele, a waitlist, 20+ boarder stalls and support staff. Hawthorne Hill is owned and operated by Holly Helbig, an equine veterinarian.
