The USHJA 3’3” Hunter Seat Medal becomes available at USEF-rated competitions beginning August 2, 2019. This class serves as a stepping stone for equitation riders, providing an opportunity to qualify and compete in a national equitation final at fence heights of 3’3”.
The USHJA 3’3” Hunter Seat Medal is open to Junior Active Members of the USEF and USHJA, who have not competed in any of the following National Equitation Finals with fences at 3’6” within the same competition year, including: ASPCA Maclay Finals, USEF Hunter Seat Medal Finals, USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals (East or West), WIHS Equitation Classic Finals, Jump Canada Medal Finals or the North American Equitation Championship.
Qualifying for the USHJA 3’3” Hunter Seat Medal Finals runs from August 2 of the current competition year to August 1 of the following competition year. Riders must accumulate a minimum of 10 points in any USHJA 3’3” Hunter Seat Medal classes during the qualifying period to be eligible to compete in the USHJA 3’3” Hunter Seat Medal Finals. Once a rider has won the USHJA 3’3” Hunter Seat Medal Finals, she/he is not eligible to compete again.
A date and location for the inaugural Finals has net yet been selected; host applications will open later in 2019.
USEF-rated competitions wishing to hold a USHJA 3’3” Hunter Seat Medal class at their competition must list the class in their prize list and notify USEF.
Riders wishing to compete, simply enter the class at a competition offering the class, and review and adhere to the specifications and all other applicable rules.
