2019 Rule Change Proposals Available for Member Comment

Comment period closes Dec. 1

Lexington, Ky.—Nov. 4, 2019—The USHJA is pleased to invite members to comment on Rule Change Proposals being considered this year. Members may provide input on the proposals until Dec. 1, 2019, online here. Member comments are an important part of the rule change proposal process, and we look forward to your feedback.

At the same time members are providing input, USHJA committees and task forces are reviewing rule change proposals and providing comment as well. Following committee/task force review, the proposals are submitted to the Hunter and Jumper Working Groups for consideration. All amendments to the proposals are incorporated into drafts that will be presented at the USHJA Annual Meeting, presented by World Equestrian Center, which is being held Dec. 8-12 in Denver, Colorado.

At the USHJA Annual Meeting, USHJA will conduct a Rule Change Proposal Forum during which additional comment may be provided by attendees for consideration by the Hunter and Jumper Working Groups. The Rule Change Proposals will move forward to the USHJA Board of Directors with the recommendations and comments of members, committees/task forces, and the Working Groups for voting. The USHJA Board of Directors' votes on the proposals will be submitted to US Equestrian for their consideration and ultimately to a vote by the US Equestrian Board of Directors during their 2020 mid-year Board of Directors meeting.

These proposals remain proposals until the US Equestrian Board of Directors votes to approve, disapprove, or defer the proposals, and their decision is the final step in the rule change proposal process each year. Rule changes are not immediately effective, so members should always check the effective date. The US Equestrian Rulebook and information about all US Equestrian Rule Change Proposals can be found at https://www.usef.org/compete/resources-forms/rules-regulations/rulebook.

The 2019 USHJA Annual Meeting, presented by World Equestrian Center, will be held in Denver, Colorado, at the Denver Hilton City Center, Dec. 8-12. The hotel block is currently available on the website, and USHJA has secured discounted airfare and rental car opportunities in conjunction with this year's event. Registration is now open.
