Zones 1 and 2 Top Podium in Team Competition at USHJA Zone Jumper Team Championships

Skillman, N.J.—August 25, 2019—The USHJA Zones 1 & 2 Jumper Team Championships continued Saturday, August 24, at Princeton Show Jumping with team competition. Riders from Zone 1 earned team gold in the Children's competition, while Zone 2 earned gold medals in the Adult Amateur and in the combined 1.20/1.25m and 1.30/1.35m Junior/Amateur team competition. The Championships will conclude Sunday, August 25, with riders competing for individual medals and Gold Star Emerging Jumper Rider titles in the Individual Competition.

The Children's Zone 1 Team 1 took top honors in the USHJA Zones 1 & 2 Jumper Team Championship at Princeton Show Jumping.

1.10/1.15m Children's Team Results

In the 1.10/1.15m Children's Team Championship, Zone 1 Team 1, coached by Chef d’Equipe Kristi Smith, took the gold with a combined total of 4 faults. 

Isabel Mishara: “It was really fun, I like being apart of a team because you don’t really get that a lot in horse showing. It was exciting cheering each other on; I enjoyed it.”

Jacqueline Van Meter, who won the Individual Qualifier and Team Gold: “ I’m really excited, and I’m so proud of horse and myself.”

The Zone 2 Adult Amateur Team topped the podium in the team competition of the USHJA Zones 1&2 Jumper Team Championships at Princeton Show Jumping.

1.10/1.15m Adult Amateur Team Championship Results 

Zone 2 Team 2, coached by Chef d’Equipe James Benedetto, had a clear and fast jump off to win the Gold for the 1.10/1.15m Adult Amateur Team Championship.

Emily Throop: “I did [the Zone Jumper Team Championships] five years ago with a different horse and it didn’t go so well, so it is exciting to come back with Cassie, who I trust so much and be able to do so well.”

Alexis Di Pasqua: “I was so nervous. I never thought I would be jumping off for the Team Gold. I was lucky that I got to go second; I made a plan in my head and just went for it.” 

Kendra Walmer, who won the Individual Qualifier and Team Gold: “This is exciting, winning the [First Individual Qualifier]—and now winning the Team Gold.”

The combined 1.20/1.25 and 1.30/1.35m Junior/Amateur team from Zone 2 took home team gold in the USHJA Zones 1&2 Jumper Team Championships at Princeton Show Jumping.

1.20/1.25m and 1.30/1.35m Junior/Amateur Team Championship Results

After a three-horse jump-off for Junior/Amateur combined 1.20m/1.25m and 1.30m/1.35m Team Gold, Zone 2 Team 3 were the victors with a combined team total of 16 faults.

Leslie Schillat: “This is my third year, and it’s a lot of fun. I love how they make it a big deal. Its nice, because at this level, we don’t have a lot of finals. They put a lot into it.” 

Gwyneth Babington: “I was really excited. I had the privilege of going last in the jump off; I was hoping the second girl would have a rail but she didn’t, and she was pretty fast. I really had to give it a shot to the last jump and he was amazing.”

Stephanie Dixon: “This program has given me the opportunity to really educate Valenzia further and work on her development and work on myself.”
