USHJA Opens Entries for the AON/USHJA National Championships at The Las Vegas National CSI3*-W

Las Vegas—July 22, 2019—The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association has opened entries for the AON/USHJA National Championships at The Las Vegas National CSI3*-W, Nov. 11-17, 2019, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The USHJA invites members across the country to enter for a chance to qualify for the Championships through points and classes in their zone. Entries close Sept. 13, and interested members must enter in order to be eligible for qualifying.

After a successful debut in 2018, the AON/USHJA National Championships are returning with more classes and more prize money. The Championships will feature National Hunter Championships for Amateur Owner Hunters, Junior Hunters, Pony Hunters, Green Hunters, Adult Amateur Hunters and Children's Hunters. They will also include the USEF/USHJA National Jumper Championships with eight sections of Jumper competition from 1.0m Low Child/Adult Jumper to 1.40m for Junior, Amateur and Open Jumper competitors. The Championships also feature the USHJA Affiliate Championships at fence heights of 2' and 2'6", and the Championships will offer the USHJA National Equitation Championships for Juniors 14 and under, 15-17, and Adults.

This year, the National Championships will also feature a $25,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby, 3'0"/3'3" and 3'6/3'9" USHJA Green Incentive Stake classes.

The accompanying Las Vegas National Horse Show, CSI 3*-W will also play host to the CPHA Foundation/West Coast Equestrians (WCE) Medal Finals, a $25,000 In It 2 Win It Stake presented by Omaha Equestrian Foundation, the Markel Insurance 1.45m Jumper Series Finals, plus FEI competition, including the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Las Vegas.

Members interested in qualifying must submit entries for the Championships by Sept. 13 with a non-refundable $50 application fee, which will be credited to the entry fee should the applicant qualify. Points earned from competitions with a start date from Dec. 1, 2018, to Sept. 13, 2019, will count toward qualifying. Additionally, USHJA Affiliates are invited to send their best 2' and 2'6" horse-and-rider combinations to compete in the Affiliate Championships. Entries are available online through horseshowsonline.com, or members may mail their completed entry form to Ryegate Show Services.

The Championships will take place during The Las Vegas National, CSI3*-W, which is held at the South Point Hotel, Casino & Spa. The Championships will also include fun activities throughout the week, including free educational clinics. The clinics will be open to the public and will feature a variety of topics including sports psychology with Sport Psychology Consultant Mario Soto; training, conditioning and sports medicine with Sharon Classen, physiotherapist for the 2018 World Equestrian Games; Judge with the Judge, and course walks of the National Hunter Derby and Longines FEI Jumping World Cup Grand Prix.
