USHJA to Host Horseless Horse Show Fundraiser at EQUITANA USA

Tickets Now on Sale for Three-Day International Equestrian Trade Fair and Exhibition at Kentucky Horse Park, October 1-3

Lexington, Ky.—Sept. 24, 2021—In a fun and unique opportunity, the U.S. Hunter Jumper Association will bring the Hunter/Jumper sport to equine enthusiasts from around the world with the USHJA Horseless Horse Show during EQUITANA USA, the world’s largest equine trade show, October 1-3 at the Kentucky Horse Park. Benefitting the USHJA Foundation, which supports USHJA programs, grants and scholarships, the Horseless Horse Show will run Saturday, October 2, and Sunday, October 3, with classes for all ages and skill levels, as well as fun prizes and awards for participants and winners. 

“We’re excited to be a part of EQUITANA’s inaugural event in the United States and to showcase our sport in front of equine enthusiasts from around the country,” said Kevin Price, USHJA executive director. “We welcome attendees to stop by our booth and learn about the history of Hunter/Jumper sport or to participate in our Horseless Horse Show, which will offer something for everyone.”

Four different classes will be held at varying fence heights and for different ages, including a Jump for Fun practice class, Hunter and Jumper classes, and a Puissance or high jump class. All Horseless Horse Show Classes will take place near the Kentucky Horse Park’s Walnut Arena. The cost to participate is $5 for one class, $10 for all classes on one day or $15 for unlimited classes on both Saturday and Sunday. The schedule is as follows:

  • 10-10:45 a.m. Jump for Fun! (open schooling/practice)
  • 11-11:45 a.m. 7 and under, jumps at 12-18”: Hunter, Jumper
  • 11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 8-12 years old, jumps at 2’: Hunter, Jumper
  • 12:30-1:15 p.m. 13-18 years old, jumps at 2’6”: Hunter, Jumper
  • 1:30 p.m.-end Puissance (high jump)

Each division is limited to 25 entries on a first-come, first-served basis. A waiver signed by the individual or a parent/guardian if under 18 is required. Age group/heights are suggestions only. Adults and anyone choosing to jump different heights are welcome to participate from 11 a.m.-1:15 p.m. Participants who take a photo of their entry and tag #USHJA and @ushunterjumper on Instagram will be shared in our “Stories of Champions” on the USHJA Instagram account.

In addition to the Horseless Horse Show, the USHJA will have a booth located in the Covered Arena where attendees can sign up to participate in the Horseless Horse Show and learn more about the history of the Hunter/Jumper sport or how to get involved.
