USHJA to Host Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Webinar Series

Lexington, Ky.—Jan. 17, 2023—The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association is pleased to announce the launch of a new webinar series in 2023 focusing on diversity, equity and inclusion. The webinars, which are open to all members of the equestrian community, are designed to promote greater understanding and acceptance of diversity within the equestrian community and to foster an inclusive environment for all.

A diverse lineup of speakers and panelists, including riders, trainers, industry professionals and DEI experts, will lead the webinars throughout the year. Topics will include cultural competency, mental health, body positivity and allyship, with a focus on how these issues affect the equestrian community.

"We recognize that a more diverse and inclusive community will lead to a stronger and more successful sport," said USHJA Executive Director Kevin Price. "USHJA is proud to facilitate conversations about these issues. With this webinar series, we are making a small but important stride toward creating a more welcoming environment for all equestrians."

The series kicks off on Wednesday, January 18 at 7 p.m. ET with Cultural Competency Strategies for Diversifying Sport. USHJA Diversity and Inclusion Advocacy Committee Member Dominique Mungin and Gary Frasier, 2022/2023 USHJA Inclusion, Diversity, Belonging and Equity Consultant and Associate Dean at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, will lead the discussion on what cultural competency is, why it matters and how it can be incorporated into the sport. Attendees can register now.
