USHJA Earns Honors at 2026 American Horse Publications Equine Media Awards

Lexington, Ky.—May 26, 2026—The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association earned multiple honors at the 2026 American Horse Publications Equine Media Awards during the Equine Media Conference in Lexington, Kentucky. Held annually, the awards recognize excellence in equine journalism, editorial storytelling, and creative design across the horse industry.

USHJA In Stride magazine received first-place honors in the Instructional Single Article Screenshot 2026-05-19 112211category for “Course Walking: Taking It Step by Step,” featured in the July 2025 issue. Written by USHJA Editor Tricia Booker, the article was recognized for its accessible educational content, expert insight, and strong visual presentation. Presented in a Q&A format with veteran course designer Kenny Krome, the feature shares expert guidance on analyzing courses, planning an effective track, and making smart decisions in the show ring.

In Stride's July 2025 issue also earned a second-place recognition in the Association/Organization Publication Equine Media Personality Profile Single Article category for “Karl Cook Has a Passion to Excel in Riding and Life,” written by Nancy Jaffer and featuring photography by Rachel Milewski, USHJA Senior Designer. The article follows the 2024 Olympic medalist as he reflects on his journey to the top levels of the sport and the moments that helped shape his career along the way. The feature was celebrated for its engaging storytelling, detailed reporting, and compelling portrayal of its subject.

In the Design category, the USHJA received third place in Equine-related Single Screenshot 2026-05-19 113110Advertisement Design for “Young Jumpers, Big Dreams.” The advertisement was designed by freelance designer Jeff Ruth and Suzanne Dorman, USHJA Managing Director of Art, with copy written by MaryJo Peters, USHJA Communications Coordinator, and photos by Andrew Ryback Photography. Promoting the USHJA Young Jumper Championships, the ad was recognized for its clean visual composition and aspirational messaging.
