USHJA Announces Qualifying Information for 2020 AON/USHJA National Championships

Championship Set to Return to The Las Vegas National, CSI-W, November 16-22

Lexington, Ky.—Jun. 18, 2020—The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association is excited to announce that qualifying information for the 2020 AON/USHJA National Championships is now available. The Championships are set to return to The Las Vegas National, CSI-W, November 16-22, 2020 but are subject to cancellation or change due to COVID-19.

“While we are monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic closely, we are hopeful to return to Las Vegas for the AON/USHJA National Championships and deliver another year of fantastic competition and fun,” said Pat Boyle, competition manager for the Championships. “Zone qualifying makes these Championships accessible for a broader set of members than other championships, offering something for everyone in addition to an exciting exhibitor experience.”

Members qualify largely based on Zone Horse of the Year points or Zone events. Points earned from competitions with a start date from December 1, 2019 to August 31, 2020 will count toward qualifying. All entrants must pre-enter the competition with a nonrefundable $50 application fee by August 31.

Due to the cancellation of the 2020 Zone Jumper Team Championships and Platinum Jumper Championships, qualifying requirements for the USEF/USHJA National Jumper Championships have been adjusted. Full qualification details for all sections can be found here.

Additionally, USHJA Affiliates are invited to send their best 2' and 2'6" horse-and-rider combinations to compete in the Affiliate Championships. Affiliates establish their own criteria for selecting Championship competitors, and all current USHJA Affiliates are invited to send members. The deadline for affiliate organization entries is September 30.

As offered in 2019, the AON/USHJA National Championships will feature National Hunter Championships for Amateur Owner Hunters, Junior Hunters, Pony Hunters, Green Hunters, Adult Amateur Hunters and Children’s Hunters and USEF/USHJA National Jumper Championships with 11 sections of Jumper competition from 1.00m to 1.40m for Junior, Amateur and Open Jumper competitors. The event will also include the USHJA Affiliate Championships at fence heights of 2' and 2'6" and USHJA National Equitation Championships.

In 2020, the Championships will again host two USHJA National Hunter Derbies; one Professional and one Junior/Amateur. These will be based on qualification determined by the National Hunter Derby Program Standings list by Zone for the qualifying period of December 1, 2019, to August 31, 2020, and 50 horses will be accepted for each.

The Championships are set to take place during The Las Vegas National, CSI-W, held at the South Point Hotel, Casino, & Spa's unique Arena & Equestrian Center. The Center offers an exceptional experience where riders and horses stay under one roof and exhibitors can also enjoy the spa, tables and slots, 64 bowling lanes, and nine dining establishments.
