USHJA Announces Changes to 2020 Green Hunter Incentive Regional Championships

Lexington, Ky.—June 5, 2020—The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association today announced the changes to dates and locations for 2020 USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Regional Championships. Five championships will be held by region (East, South, Central, Southwest and Northwest), kicking off with the South Championship at the NCHJA Annual Horse Show at Bruce’s Field in Aiken, South Carolina, June 24-28. Due to COVID-19, the South Regional Championship has relocated and the East and Southwest Championships have changed dates and locations. 

The 2020 USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Regional Championships will be held as follows:

  • South Championship, NCHJA Annual Horse Show, June 24-28, Aiken, S.C.
  • Northwest Championship, Oregon High Desert Classic 2, July 22-26, Bend, Ore.
  • East Championship, Saratoga Fall, Sept. 10-13, Stillwater, N.Y. (pending USEF approval)
  • Southwest Championship, International Jumping Festival, Sept. 16-20, San Juan Capistrano, Calif.
  • Central Championship, Harvest, Oct. 28-Nov. 1, Katy, Texas

Each regional championship is two rounds, and the combined total score for both rounds will determine the winner. Prize money is awarded through twelfth place, and each championship will offer a minimum of $10,000 in prize money spread across all the sections offered. Horses must be enrolled in the program to be eligible to participate.

Horses must be enrolled in the USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Program to participate in the Green Hunter Stake classes, one of five regional championships, and to be eligible for the Platinum Performance/USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Championships. Enrollment in the USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Program is open to horses that are eligible to compete in Green Hunter 3', 3'3", 3'6" or 3'9" sections. Horses that have participated in the program at the 3'0 or 3'3" level in previous years are eligible for a one-time discount of $100 off the enrollment fee when they are enrolled at the 3'6"/3'9" level.

The Platinum Performance/USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Championships will take place August 11-13 at the Kentucky Horse Park. For 2020, all horses enrolled in the Green Hunter Incentive program and eligible to compete in a Green Hunter class are invited to participate in the 2020 Green Hunter Incentive Championships.
