Small Statement and Small Occasion Claim Big Wins at inaugural AON/USHJA National Championships

Las Vegas—November 14, 2018—There was nothing small about the statement Jamie Taylor made today aboard her two Iwasaki & Reilly entries Small Statement and Small Occasion.

Taylor and Small Statement started the day off strong earning second place in the 3’/3’3” Classic, followed by Champion in the 3’3” Green Hunter section. Taylor then took up the 3’6” Green Hunter section with Small Occasion, winning the 3’6” Green Hunter Classic, 3’6” Green Hunter Champion and Grand Green Hunter Champion titles. She also claimed the High Score Rider Award for a score of 92 aboard Small Statement.

“It has been an incredible horse show,” said Taylor complimenting both of her horses and the competition itself. “I always love the horse show here, but this National Championship has made it so cool. The job that Pat Boyle and his team have done has been amazing. It’s been a really neat format running it a little bit differently. It’s just made what was already a fun experience even better.”

In the Green Hunter 3’ section, which kicked off the day, Karli Postel rode Meredith Mateo’s Vanessa to the top call, winning both the over fences rounds and picking up third in the under saddle. For her win, she was presented the Green Hunter 3’ Perpetual Trophy, donated by Tapestry Farm and the Struve Family, a cooler and an Essex show shirt. Reserve Champion went to Nicole Kane and Heidi Kane’s Harper.

For her win, Taylor was presented the Green Hunter 3’3” Championship “Puissance R” Perpetual Trophy, donated by Lisa and Steve Hankin, as well as a cooler and Essex show shirt.

Astrid Van Leeuwen rode her own Hopeful to beat out the competition for the Green Hunter 3’/3’3” Classic. In addition to prize money and ribbons, classic winners were each awarded a beautiful silver tray thanks to Prize Possessions.

In the 3’6” section, Nick Haness rode Atellia No 5, owned by West Coast Equine Partners, LLC, to Reserve Champion honors. Jenny Karazissis and Lisa Hankin’s Puissance R took on the 3’9” Green Hunter Champion title, and Brent Balisky rode Wendy Valdes’s Class Act to Reserve Champion.
