New Location Announced for West Coast 2020 Sallie B. Wheeler/USEF/USHJA Hunter Breeding National Championship

Lexington, Ky.—June 2, 2020—The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association is pleased to announce a new location for the west coast Sallie B. Wheeler/USEF/USHJA Hunter Breeding National Championships, presented by Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Oare.

Originally set to be held at the Del Mar Horse Park in Del Mar, California, the West Coast Sallie B. Wheeler/USEF/USHJA Hunter Breeding National Championships will now be held at Rancho Mission Viejo Riding Park in San Juan Capistrano, California, on August 26. This change comes after Blenheim EquiSports chose to move all shows on the 2020 schedule to the San Juan Capistrano facility in order to concentrate resources to best implement COVID-19 protocols. The East Coast Championship remains at The Virginia Horse Center in Lexington, Virginia, on August 22.

The Championships are open to yearlings, 2-year-olds, 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds that have a current USEF Horse Recording and are registered with the USHJA. Classes include an Amateur/Junior Handler class, 3-Year-Old and 4-Year-Old Hunter Under Saddle, 3-Year-Old Hunter Hack Classes and 4-Year-Old Conformation Over Fences classes.

Both the owner and the handler must be members in good standing with USEF and USHJA on or before the first day of the Championships. Classes are judged on athleticism, conformation, way of moving, quality, substance, and suitability to become hunters. The same judges will officiate at both Championships and an Overall Champion will be named following the West Coast Championship on August 26.

The championships are made possible by the support of individual donors and sponsors. To make a donation or for more information, visit ushja.org/sallieb.
