Lexington, Ky.—Oct. 1, 2026—The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association invites members to review and comment on Rule Change Proposals under consideration for the 2028 competition year. Member input is a vital part of the rule change process, helping shape the future of the sport. Members may provide comments on the proposals online here through November 8 after signing into their USHJA member account.
To further support member engagement, USHJA President Britt McCormick will host an online Town Hall on Monday, November 2, at 7 p.m. ET alongside Whitney Allen, USHJA Executive Director; Katie Patrick, USHJA Director of Sport; Robin Rost Brown, USHJA Hunter Working Group Chair; and Charlotte Skinner Robson, USHJA Jumper Working Group Chair. The discussion will provide an overview of the latest Rule Change Proposals and offer members an opportunity to ask questions and share feedback. All members are encouraged to attend and can register online here.
In addition to member input, USHJA committees and task forces carefully review each proposal and may recommend revisions. Those recommendations, along with feedback gathered from members, will be incorporated into draft proposals presented during the 2026 USHJA Sport & Education Conference, taking place December 7-10 at the Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista in Orlando, Florida. The conference will feature a Rule Change Proposal Forum on Tuesday, December 8, providing another opportunity for attendees to discuss proposals and offer feedback.
At the conclusion of the conference, the USHJA Board of Directors will review recommendations from members, committees, task forces, and working groups before voting to approve or disapprove each proposal. The Board's decisions will then be submitted to US Equestrian.
All proposed rule changes remain under review until the US Equestrian Board of Directors votes to approve, disapprove, or defer them at its 2027 Mid-Year Meeting. This action represents the final step in the annual rule change process. The current US Equestrian Rulebook, along with information on all US Equestrian Rule Change Proposals, is available online here.
