LeCompt Awarded 2026 USHJA J.T. Tallon Memorial Equitation Grant

Lexington, Ky.—Oct. 13, 2026—The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association is pleased to announce that Tucker LeCompt, of Zone 4, is the 2026 recipient of the J.T. Tallon Memorial Equitation Grant. Each year, the USHJA Foundation awards $1,000 to one Junior rider who has qualified for a national Equitation championship at a fence height of 3' or higher to assist in attending the event. 

"The J.T. Tallon Memorial Equitation Grant means so much more to me than just financial support," LeCompt remarked. "It’s an opportunity to continue pursuing my passion for the sport and working toward my goals."

LeCompt, 14, has been riding for 10 years, having recently competed in the 3'3" and 3'6" Equitation classes, as well as the Junior Hunters and Jumpers. He grew up riding with his mother, Erin LeCompt, at Silent Run Farm in Franklin, Tennessee, riding on their IEA team. After gaining some catch riding experience, LeCompt began riding Michael Tokurak's Anchorman in May and plans to attend the National Horse Show 3’3″ Equitation Championship, sponsored by the Hamel Foundation, with the 2018 Zangersheide gelding at the Tryon International Equestrian Center.
"Competing in qualifying classes and attending finals comes with significant expenses, and this grant helps make those opportunities possible," he added. "It also feels like a recognition of all the hard work and dedication that goes into this journey, not just from me, but from all of my trainers and especially my mom, whose support means everything to me. I’m incredibly grateful for this opportunity and looking forward to making the most out of it!"

The J.T. Tallon Memorial Equitation Grant was created to honor the late J.T. Tallon's commitment to encouraging excellence in the equitation arena by inspiring junior riders with a passion for equitation to pursue their goals. The grant was developed by friends and family of the Lexington, Virginia, horseman and USHJA member who was dedicated to helping riders excel in the equitation arena.
