Dates and Locations Announced for 2021 USHJA Equitation Finals

Lexington, Ky.—March 30, 2021—The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association is pleased to announce the dates and locations for 2021 equitation finals.

The EMO Insurance/USHJA 3'3" Jumping Seat Medal Finals will be hosted on both coasts. International Jumping Festival in San Juan Capistrano, California will host the West Coast Finals on September 22-26, and Capital Challenge Horse Show in Upper Marlboro, Maryland will host the East Coast competition on October 1-3.

The USHJA 3'3" Jumping Seat Medal aims to help riders gain experience in a format similar to that of the Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search with Flat, Gymnastics and Jumping Phases. Riders who earn 15 or more points in any EMO Insurance/USHJA Jumping Seat Medal classes between August 2, 2020 and August 1, 2021 are eligible to compete in the USHJA 3'3" Jumping Seat Medal Finals, and qualified riders may choose either location.

New for Adult Amateurs in 2021, the USHJA 3'3" Adult Jumping Seat Medal debuts August 2 with the inaugural Finals to be held in 2022. For more information about the EMO Insurance/USHJA 3’3” Jumping Seat Medal and USHJA 3'3" Adult Jumping Seat Medal, visit ushja.org/jumpseatmedal.

After a successful inaugural year, USHJA 3’3” Hunter Seat Medal Finals will also return to both coasts this fall. The West Coast Final will be held during International Jumping Festival - Blenheim in San Juan Capistrano, California, on September 26 and the East Coast competition will be at the New England Equitation Championships at the Eastern States Exposition Center in West Springfield, Massachusetts, on October 23.

The USHJA 3’3” Hunter Seat Medal is open to Junior Active Members of the USEF and USHJA who have not competed in any of the following National Equitation Finals with fences at 3’6”: ASPCA Maclay Finals, USEF Hunter Seat Medal Finals, USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals, WIHS Equitation Classic Finals, Jump Canada Medal Finals or the North American Equitation Championship. Riders must accumulate a minimum of 10 points in USHJA 3’3” Hunter Seat Medal classes during the qualifying period of August 2, 2020 to August 1, 2021 to be eligible to compete in the Finals. Once again, the USHJA Gladstone Cup Equitation Classic, presented by Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College, will be held in conjunction with the Adequan/USEF Junior Hunter National Championships on the East and West Coasts. The East Coast will take place on July 12 at Devon Showgrounds in Devon, Pennsylvania, and the West Coast will be on July 22 at Sonoma Horse Park in Petaluma, California.

The USHJA Gladstone Cup Equitation Classic is a three-round classic that combines the precision of equitation and handiness of hunters over a course set at 3'6". The class is open to any rider that is an Active USHJA Junior member at the time of the competition and has won a USEF Hunter Seat Medal, ASPCA Maclay, USEF Show Jumping Talent Search, Overall WIHS Equitation Classic or won either phase of a WIHS Equitation Classic at a Premier or National competition during the qualifying year of June 1, 2020 to May 31, 2021. The qualified rider list, which is updated on a weekly basis until finalized in June, is available at ushja.org/gladstone.
