More from the Zone 3 & 4 Team Gold Medalists:

Interesting tidbits about your horse...

Angela Pollex about her mount Elbo VDL: Every time he jumps he almost shoots me to the moon, pretty much.

Judy Sutton: My horse is Win A Date - he goes by Tad - he’s really cute like Tad in the movie (“Win a Date with Tad Hamilton”) He’s cute for me too, I just love him.

Kara Jones: End Game is from Argentina. He’s a pretty new horse for me, I’ve had him for about a year. And his name came from the Taylor Swift song. My mom really liked it and I let her name him.

Ashley McGehee: Mr Snuffleupagus is an 11 year old, I’ve had him since he was three. I don’t ride him a ton, because I work, so this is like the first big thing we’ve done. It was fun!

Caroline Monaghan: Sevani is eleven years old and I’ve had him for about five years. This is the first big win we’ve had, and I’m so proud of how far he’s come.

About the Team Experience…

Anissa Jessee: I love all the teamwork, and getting to meet new girls, and working together.

Lucy Reich: It’s a lot different showing with a team, versus just yourself. But it’s really fun!

Ana Ramos: It has always been like a dream and this is my first Zone Championships. I have only had my horse since January and I love him, he is the best.

Avery Moore: This is my first year here. In past years I’ve gotten to see my friends come and compete. I never had the chance to and now I have and it is a dream come true. It was super exciting and I am really happy that I got to come.

Caterina Sinibaldi: It was my first year competing in the US and so coming here is a dream and to win is amazing.

Laura Bishop: I went in Zone 9 in 2015 and didn't have a team so it was really nice for me to come back and have a team experience. USHJA has done a great job at developing the program over the past four years since I last did it.

And about the Chefs...

Diana Harris (Zone 3): We really want to thank our Chefs Sandra [Ruiz] and Gail [Thompson] they've been really great and really helpful.

Meghan Thiel (Chef D’Equipe, Zone 4): This is my second year Chefing, and I love this program. I got involved after bringing kids my first year. It is a great educational program, it goes much further than their ribbons today. They get [free] clinics after this and they get to be gold star athletes. The trainers also get to be gold star coaches and it really helps everybody, and I think it is a super interesting way for them to compete, on a team vs. individually.

Medals and ribbons were awarded to the top three teams, with the gold medal team receiving embroidered coolers. Sunday will conclude the USHJA Zones 3 & 4 Jumper Team Championships with the Individual Competition.

USHJA extends special thanks to Eric Straus, JP Godard and the entire Tryon International Equestrian Center team for hosting the USHJA Zones 3 & 4 Jumper Team Championships.

Happening concurrently this week at Tryon are the inaugural USHJA Platinum Jumper Championships for qualified juniors, amateurs and professionals at 1.40/1.45m fence height.
