Applicants Accepted and Qualifying Lists Available for 2023 Marshall & Sterling Insurance/USHJA National Championships

Lexington, Ky.—Oct.20, 2023—The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association is pleased to announce that qualifying lists and wait lists for the 2023 Marshall & Sterling Insurance/USHJA National Championships are now available. More than 1,400 applications were submitted in order to qualify and over 1,100 entries have been accepted to this year's event on November 13-19 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Late entries are now open and close November 13. All late applicants must enter here and pay a non-refundable $100 application fee to be placed on the wait list. Those wishing to compete but have not yet applied are encouraged to do so early, to ensure hotel room availability. The hotel room group code will be provided to competitors along with stall assignments once final show entries are made with the Blenheim Equisports show office. Upon officially entering, all hotel information will be provided to competitors, along with instructions on how to reserve feed and bedding and schedule a move-in appointment. Held in conjunction with The Las Vegas National CSI4*-W, the Marshall & Sterling Insurance/USHJA National Championships will crown Hunter, Jumper and Equitation champions across more than 40 divisions.

Hunter competition ranges from Children’s and Adult Amateur Hunters to Green Hunters, including two $25,000 USHJA National Hunter Derbies—one Open and one for Juniors and Amateurs—and two USHJA Green Hunter Incentive Stake classes.

The USEF/USHJA National Jumper Championships will offer over $100,000 in prize money across nine sections of competition from 1.00m to 1.30m for Junior, Amateur and Open Jumper competitors.

Equitation titles for Juniors and Amateurs are up for grabs, including the USHJA 3'3" Hunter Seat Medal, EMO Insurance/USHJA 3'3" Jumping Seat Medal and USHJA 3'3" Adult Jumping Seat Medal.

The Championships also feature the USHJA Affiliate Championships, which include Hunters and Equitation from 2' to 2'6" and 0.70m to 1.00m Jumper competition for selected members of USHJA Affiliate Organizations, as well as Outreach members who have been awarded the Outreach Golden Backstage Pass.

Members qualified for the rated sections largely based on Zone Horse of the Year points or Zone events between December 1, 2022, and September 12, 2023, with qualifying requirements differing based on the division. More than 400 affiliate competitors were nominated through each individual Affiliate organization based on which entrants they deemed most qualified to compete and represent their organization. Eleven Outreach members were awarded the Outreach Golden Backstage Pass by being the highest pointed Gold level rider in their Zone based on points calculated as of September 1, 2023. These individuals were also invited to compete and enjoy advanced registration for all education sessions.

In addition to the competitive opportunities, the Championships will include free educational opportunities for exhibitors and attendees, such as sports psychology sessions with Darby Bonomi, PhD; Judge with the Judge and course walks throughout the week.

The Las Vegas National CSI4*-W, managed by Blenheim EquiSports, runs simultaneously with the Championships, offering an FEI International division culminating with the $226,000 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ Las Vegas on Saturday evening, as well as highlight classes throughout the week. Tickets are now available here for Saturday evening's featured event, with pre-show fun beginning at 5:30 p.m. and including a photo booth, face painting, live entertainment, shopping, giveaways and more. At 6:15 p.m., Opening Ceremonies begin with a Parade of Nations before the first horse on course at 7 p.m. 

The Championships will take place during The Las Vegas National, CSI4*-W, held at the South Point Hotel, Casino, & Spa's unique Arena & Equestrian Center. The South Point offers an exceptional experience where riders and horses stay under one roof, and exhibitors can also enjoy the spa, tables and slots, 64 bowling lanes, and nine dining establishments.
