The Lindsay Maxwell Charitable Fund/USHJA Emerging Athletes Program provides opportunities for riders to advance their education as they strive to become knowledgeable horsemen and women within the hunter/jumper community. In 2019, seven of the 10 EAP Regional Training Sessions will offer a special 3' section, giving riders of all ages an introduction to the benefits of the USHJA Emerging Athletes Program at a 3' fence height. Riders participating in a 3' section will have full access to all aspects of the Regional Training Session but are not eligible to qualify for the National Training Session.
Riders interested in participating in the EAP 3’ Sections must:
Space for the available 3' sections is limited to eight riders. Riders who submit the 3' application and pay the $50 application fee to USHJA will be accepted to the 3' section on a first come, first served basis until all spots are filled. If there are more than eight applications submitted for a particular session the day applications open, there will be a random draw to determine participants.
Log into your USHJA online account and click on the “EAP Application” link. Check the box of the EAP 3' Regional Training Session to which you are applying. Complete the application in its entirety and submit payment by the listed deadline. Riders will be accepted on a first come, first served basis and will be notified by email.
The U.S. Hunter Jumper Association is committed to the safety and protection of its members and volunteers. To ensure a safe environment for all participants, the USHJA strives to follow practices that minimize risk to participants and guests. Such practices include but are not limited to: discouraging one-on-one interactions with youth, ensuring a USHJA approved representative is present when an outside presenter is engaged with youth, and reminding USHJA onsite representatives, hosts, parents/guardians of their responsibility to safe guard youth in their care. Additionally, clinicians, stable managers, USHJA representatives and staff participating in the Emerging Athletes Program are required to complete the Safe Sport Training as per USHJA Policy 2018-5-03.
Per US Equestrian rules, all active USEF adult members (18 years of age or older) are required to complete Safe Sport training. The USHJA will also require all adult participants (18 years of age or older) to complete Safe Sport training prior to attending an EAP training session.
Adult participants who have not yet completed Safe Sport training may click here for directions on how to access the free training prior to your training session. Accepted EAP applicants required to complete this training will not be permitted to attend their assigned EAP training session without fulfilling this requirement.
The following EAP Regional Training Sessions will offer a 3' section. Applications will open February 4, and must be received by the listed deadlines. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
