The HAF provides funds to help with the following types of expenses:

  • Insurance premiums to assist the individual in maintaining their insurance coverage during the time of emergency need
  • Necessary basic living expenses during the approved time of emergency need

Applicant Eligibility Requirements:

  • Active USHJA membership
  • US Citizen or Legal Resident
  • Financially incapacitated due to an illness, accident, or natural disaster
  • Exhausted all personal means of financial support

See the complete Program Overview for details about the grant review process and funding limitations.

The funding to support this program is derived from private gifts, USHJA member events, and dedicated fundraising efforts. The majority of the gifts distributed from the fund are between $1,000 and $10,000, provided the applicant meets all eligibility requirements.
