USHJA Amateur Hunter Championships
The USHJA Amateur Hunter Championships is designed to promote and support USHJA’s Amateur membership by offering a
year end goal for Amateur Hunter riders competing in the 2’6” Low Adult Amateur, 3’ Adult Amateur, 3’3” Amateur Owner, and 3’6” Amateur Owner Hunter divisions.
What to Expect
- Separate Championships for the 2’6” Low Adults, 3’ Adult Amateurs, 3’3” Amateur Owners, and 3’6” Amateur Owners.
- Nomination Fee: $100 per horse
- Each division will be conducted in three phases:
- Under Saddle
- Classic Round
- Handy Round
- Each phase will be scored 0-100.
- Scores will be weighted for each phase to calculate an overall score:
- Under Saddle: 20%
- Classic Round: 40%
- Handy Round: 40%
- Champion results based on the highest overall scores.
New in 2026! American Quarter Horse High Score Award
Presented by AQHA with Judy Canfield Power and Rick and Lori Bucholz
American Quarter Horse High Score Award presented by AQHA with Judy Canfield Power and Rick and Lori Bucholz will be awarded to the highest scoring Quarter Horse of the Amateur Hunter Championships. Horses must be registered with AQHA to be eligible.

Qualifying
- Qualify through both USEF-licensed Channel I or Channel II competitions.
- Champion or Reserve Champion at one competition:
- Low Adult Amateur Hunter 2’6”
- Adult Amateur Hunter 3’
- Amateur Owner Hunter 3’3"
- Amateur Owner Hunter 3’6"
- Champion or Reserve Champion at one competition:
