Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College Renews Multi-Year Sponsorship of the USHJA Hunterdon Cup Equitation Classic

Qualifying ends May 31

Lexington, Ky.—May 16, 2019—The USHJA is pleased to announce Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College as the presenting sponsor for the 2019 and 2020 USHJA Hunterdon Cup Equitation Classic-East and West Coasts. This year, the USHJA Hunterdon Cup will again be held in conjunction with the USEF Junior Hunter National Championships, and will be held in new locations in Devon, Pennsylvania, and Petaluma, California.

“The USHJA Hunterdon Cup is an excellent opportunity for our junior members to showcase their equitation skills on a national stage alongside the USEF Junior Hunter National Championships,” said Mary Babick, president of the USHJA. “We would also like to thank Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College for their continued support of the program and valuing the importance of equitation and horsemanship as building blocks to success in our sport.”

The USHJA Hunterdon Cup-East Coast will be held July 8 at Brandywine Horse Shows in Devon, Pa. The Hunterdon Cup-West Coast will be held July 22 at the Sonoma Horse Park in Petaluma, Calif. The deadline to qualify to participate on either coast is May 31. A list of qualified riders can be found here.

The class is open to any rider that is an Active USHJA Junior member, at the time of the competition, and has won a USEF Medal, ASPCA Maclay, USEF Show Jumping Talent Search, or Overall WIHS Equitation Classic during the qualifying year (June 1, 2018-May 31, 2019). The qualified rider list, which is updated on a weekly basis until finalized in June, is available at ushja.org/hunterdon.

The USHJA Hunterdon Cup Equitation Classic, presented by Intermont Equestrian at Emory & Henry College, is a three-round classic that combines the precision of equitation and handiness of hunters over a course set at 3'6". The class is named in honor of George Morris and his farm, Hunterdon.

Diane Carney and Lynn Jayne graciously donated the Hunterdon Cup perpetual trophy that is presented each year to the class winner. Riders may not win the USHJA Hunterdon Cup more than once, and winners are invited to present awards for the following year.
