April 20, 2011

Lexington, KY-The United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) is pleased to announce Markel Insurance Company as the presenting sponsor of the USHJA Trainer Certification Program (TCP).

"Markel's long standing reputation for quality and professional service makes it the perfect fit for this program'" stated Bill Moroney, President of USHJA. "The Trainer Certification Program was developed to provide a comprehensive education and certification program for all levels of professional trainers. This program provides the highest standard of resources to the professionals in our sport looking to continue and hone their skills. The implementation and ongoing development of the USHJA Trainer Certification Program benefits the hunter and jumper disciplines in a variety of ways, including providing knowledge of all aspects of the hunter/jumper sport, including stable management, horsemanship practices, safety, flatwork, jumping, professional conduct, and client relationships."

"Markel has enjoyed long term partnerships with several top national associations like the USEF, the reining horse association (NRHA), and the AQHA, and we value the opportunity to partner with the USHJA for the Trainer Certification Program," explained John Seger, Markel's Director of Equine Development. "We have heard for years about the need for a certification process, so we are very pleased to partner with the USHJA to support this hunter/jumper program."

Markel plans to be very involved in the TCP and will be attending most, if not all of the Trainer Symposiums. At these events, attendees are exposed to top trainers in the industry as they demonstrate their training techniques and openly discuss industry standards, issues and trends. At some of the symposiums Markel will present short, informative segments about insurance topics most pertinent to professional horsemen, and USHJA certified professionals will receive a significant discount on insurance from Markel. "To show our support and belief in continuing education and higher standards," stated Seger "experts within Markel worked together to create exclusive discounts for USHJA certified professionals as part of the sponsorship."
