2009 Emerging Athletes Program National Training Session Announced

USHJA is pleased to announce that the inaugural Emerging Athletes Program National Training Session will take place January 8-10, 2010 in Reno, NV at Maplewood Stables, Inc. owned by Julie Winkel. The top 12 finalists will spend 3 days focused on displaying their riding, horsemanship and stable management skills. Peter Wylde will serve as the main riding clinician, while Melanie Smith-Taylor observes and judges the riders. Eliza Shuford will oversee the stable management with Dr. Midge Leitch as the assistant Stable Manager. Dr. Leitch will also provide a veterinarian seminar. Mindy Bower will give a Horsemanship Demonstration.

The 12 riders selected to participate at the National Training Session will be announced at the end of November. Auditors are welcome. For more information, please contact Melanie Fransen.

2010 EAP Host Site Application Packets are now Available

The application phase is open for facilities interested in hosting a Level I Emerging Athletes Training Session. The goal of the application process is to find a training facility in each of our zones to serve as the host for the Level I EAP Training Session. The Application Packet is available by contacting Melanie Fransen.

COMPLETED APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED IN THE USHJA OFFICE ON OR BEFORE 5:00 PM ET NOVEMBER 20, 2009. Applications received after this date will not be accepted for consideration.

2010-2011 USHJA International Hunter Derby Class Application Packets are now Available

The application phase is open for competitions interested in hosting an International Hunter Derby class between June 2, 2010-June 1, 2011. This time period is the 12 month qualifying period for the USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals to be held in 2011. If you are interested in hosting multiple classes, please complete one application per competition. However, we cannot guarantee that multiple classes in one location will be granted during this time period due to the limited availability. If you have previously hosted an International Hunter Derby, the dates of your previous class(es) do not guarantee that you will be approved for the same dates in the next qualifying period. Classes are awarded in part on geographical balance and variance of dates.

The application packet is available on the USHJA Website or by contacting Melanie Fransen.

COMPLETED APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED IN THE USHJA OFFICE ON OR BEFORE 5:00 PM ET NOVEMBER 20, 2009.

Applications Open to Host a USHJA Hunter Development Incentive Fund Event

USHJA is looking for managers to host HDIF events for the 2010 competition year. To apply to host a show, please visit the USHJA HDIF website and download an application. Completed applications must be received by the USHJA office by November 18, 2009. On January 15, 2010 all applicants will be notified of the approved calendar of the inaugural Member Event Series. Please visit the USHJA HDIF website for complete specifications, stallion/horse nomination forms and show manager applications. Questions concerning the program may be directed to Sterling Berry.
