Derby Applications Currently Being Accepted – DEADLINE EXTENDED!
Applications to host a USHJA International Hunter Derby in the 2012-13 Qualifying Season (competitions starting June 2, 2012-June 1, 2013)
are currently being accepted, with a deadline of August 15, 2011. Derby classes may be offered at AA competitions or competitions with special competition status.
Host application packets are available on the USHJA International Hunter Derby Homepage.
Due to the early application deadline a new payment system has been developed.
Managers will now be able to spread out the payment of the hosting fee. Within thirty (30) business days following notification of approval a deposit of $1250.00 will be
due with the remaining $1250.00 due ninety (90) days before the date of each Derby class.

2011 Hunterdon Cup
The USHJA/Essex Classics Hunterdon Equitation Cup Classic will be held August 2, 2011 during the East Coast Junior Hunter Finals in Saugerties, NY.
The Hunterdon Cup is a unique class that combines the precision of equitation and the handiness of hunters and is open to any rider that is an active USHJA junior member
and has won a USEF Medal, ASPCA Maclay, USEF Show Jumping Talent Search, or WIHS Classic at a competition starting between July 2, 2010 and July 1, 2011.

WCHR Member Event Applications Currently Being Accepted
Applications to host a World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) Member Event in 2012 are currently being accepted.
All “AA” and “A” Competitions are eligible to apply. Completed applications must be received in the USHJA office or postmarked on or before 5 PM Monday, August 15, 2011.

Pony Finals Clinic
USHJA is hosting two exciting clinics on Friday, August 12 during USEF Pony Finals. Jeff Cook is conducting a “Future Trainers” Symposium at 9:00am and
Diane Carney is conducting a “Horseless” Horsemen Clinic at 1:00pm. Jeff Cook will present what it takes to become a trainer and demonstrates various training methods
at the “Future Trainers” Symposium. Diane Carney’s “Horseless” Horseman Clinic is a fun, hands-on event for every level of horseman.
These interactive and educational clinics are open to riders, trainers and parents and are not to be missed!
Stop by the Kentucky Horse Park covered arena on Friday, August 12 for these two exciting and interactive USHJA clinics presented by SmartPak.

College Equestrian Lettering Program
USHJA in partnership with the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) is proud to offer the USHJA/IHSA College Equestrian Lettering Program to our collegiate members.
The dates of the program will run June 1st through May 31st of the USEF calendar year, however the inaugural year will run August 1, 2011 through May 31, 2012.
Students must complete at least one hundred (100) hours of equestrian training during the program dates. Hours can be accumulated via riding lessons, practice rides, team practices, clinics,
and competitions. Students who successfully complete the program will be presented a USHJA Collegiate Equestrian Lettering Program patch and USHJA pin to adorn their favorite letterman jacket.
Equestrian Athletes can also purchase a special Varsity jacket through www.shopUSHJA.com.

1.40 and 1.50 Meter Clubs
USHJA announces the formation of a new award.
The 1.40 Meter Club and 1.50 Meter Club are new status marks designed to acknowledge the talents and success of the jumper riders in the High Performance divisions.
The new 1.40 Meter Club designation is a Zone award while the 1.50 Meter Club will be awarded on a National Level. While each club will be Zone based,
qualifying can be done at any USEF recognized horse show throughout the country. The 1.40 Meter Club honors riders who have placed in 1.40m or higher at a minimum of five (5)
different USEF recognized competitions within the Federation calendar year. The 1.50 Meter Club will honor those who have placed in 1.50m or higher in at least three (3)
different USEF recognized shows. Members will be presented certificates and a letter of congratulations signed by the USHJA President and Zone Chair at their respective Zone Banquet.

Zone Forums Scheduled
All members are invited to attend the following Zone forums held by Diane Popp. Subjects include changes to bonus points earned at Zone Finals and Championships,
opportunities Zones are offering to members from the $2.00 Zone Support Fee, rule change proposals, and new Zone Election procedures for 2012. The Zones are busy planning
programs for members and all input will be extremely important. Diane will be attending the competitions and will be available for any questions members may have.
Zone 2: Thursday, September 1st, Hampton Classic in Bridgehampton, NY after the USEF World Cup Rider meeting in the Rider Lounge.
Zone 3: Thursday, September 22nd, Middleburg Classic in Leesburg, VA at the close of competition at the Patron’s Tent.
Zone 7: Wednesday, July 27th, Go Show in Oklahoma City, OK, 5:30 pm or after close of competition, above the jumper ring in the reception area. Refreshments will be served.
Zone 8: Friday, September 9th, High Prairie Fall Preview, Parker, CO, 5pm after the USHJA National Hunter Classic.
Zone 9: Thursday, September 15th, NW Autumn Finals, Monroe, WA, in conjunction with USHJA Zone 9 “Ask the Judges” Clinic.
Zone 10: Thursday, August 11th, Menlo Charity in Atherton, CA in the sponsorship tent, 5pm.

EAP Host Facility Applications Currently Being Accepted
Applications for facilities interested in hosting a Level One Emerging Athletes Training Session in 2012 are currently being accepted.
The Host Facility does not have to be a show facility to be considered. Private farms, boarding facilities, universities, prep schools, etc. may apply as
long as the facility can meet USHJA/EAP requirements. Applications must be received in the USHJA office or postmarked no later than September 1, 2011.

The USHJA is now offering standard Trainer Certification Program Clinics (TCP Clinics) as well as Trainer's Symposiums.
Attendance at a recognized USHJA Trainer Certification Program Clinic will count towards the enrollment requirements for the Trainer Certification Program.
