OPEN ZONE MEETINGS FOR ZONE
COMMITTEE
ELECTIONS
Dear
USHJA Members,
Please
be aware that on or before April 25, 2008, each Zone Committee must hold
an “open” Zone meeting for the purpose of receiving suggestions and
nominations from Individual Active or Associate Senior Hunter or
Jumper members in the Zone for the upcoming Zone Committee
elections. The date, place and time for an “open” nominating meeting
must be determined by the Zone Committee and published on the
USHJA website, in USHJA E-News and/or in USHJA In Stride Magazine a
minimum of 30 days in advance of the meeting.
At
this meeting, the Zone Chairman or a representative of the
Zone Nominating Committee will read the nominations from the Zone
Nominating Committee into the record. Additional nominations may be
made under the following conditions, providing the person being nominated
meets eligibility requirements and consents to being nominated.
- Nominations may
be made from the floor by one Senior Active or Associate member eligible
to vote in the Zone and seconded by one Senior Active or Associate
member eligible to vote in the Zone and must be accompanied by a short
biographical statement from the candidate (no more than 200
words).
- Nominations may be made in writing to the Zone
Chairman with a copy sent to the USHJA office prior to this meeting, at
which the Zone Chairman or a representative of the Zone Nominating
Committee will read the names of the nominees. Written nominations
are due to the Zone Chairman and in the USHJA no later than five days in
advance of this meeting. A petition signed by no fewer than 5 Senior
Active or Associate members must accompany written nominations.
Only one nominee may be included on a petition and the individual must
have agreed to be nominated and must have a short biographical
statement. Incomplete or late nominations will not be eligible for
inclusion on the ballot. The names of all nominees
meeting eligibility requirements must be included on the
ballot.
Within five days following this meeting, the entire
list of candidates' and the candidate's bios will be sent to the USHJA
office which will then verify the candidate’s eligibility. Zone
Chairman should collect “bios” from all candidates. It is preferable that
the Zone Chairman collects all of the forms for their zone and then sends
them as a package to Christine Kennedy. No nomination will be
accepted without a bio.

USHJA Affiliate
Equitation Awards Program
USHJA has implemented an Equitation Awards
program through its Affiliate Organizations Medal Classes primarily
offered at local and unrecognized horse shows.
The goal of this program is to increase the USHJA
membership and outreach in the equestrian community, by further informing
and educating individuals who partake in equestrian sports at the
unrecognized and local horse show level and demonstrating that USHJA has
something to offer them through its many programs, and shared involvement
with the horse. Click here for more information on this program.
