There are separate applications for the Junior and Young Rider Teams. Late applications will not be accepted.

The Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky will host the 2013 NAJYRC on July 17-21.

Horsemanship Stable Challenge

Take the 30-Day Challenge Beginning June 14

The USHJA announces the debut of the 30-Day Horsemanship Stable Challenge, which will begin June 14 and run through July 15.

When at least three junior and/or amateur students per trainer* take the online Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Practice Quiz between June 14 and July 15, the trainer will be in the running for a unique trainer inspired award package which includes a  Trainer Certification Program Manual, one year free subscription from EquestrianCoach.com, a ball cap, insulated lunch cooler and a copy of "Equine ER" provided by Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital and Pharmacy, 10 free bags of grain provided by Nutrena, a Charles Owen Tote Bag and a USHJA package of  polo wraps, grooming brush and a hoof pick.

At the end of the 30-day challenge, the three top scores under each trainer will be averaged to provide an overall score and the highest scoring trainer in each zone wins the awards package!

USHJA hopes that with this firsthand experience of the challenge, trainers will encourage their students to participate in the Horsemanship Quiz Challenge program presented by Sweet Briar College in which USHJA members under 21 years of age test their horsemanship knowledge and may have the opportunity to compete in the Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Finals.

For additional information or questions please contact Carrie Vaught via email or by calling (859) 225-6703.

* Trainers, coaches and riding instructors must be current USHJA members and be declared professional with USEF.

Emerging Athletes Program - Opening Doors

Dover
From Stephen Foran, the 2012 EAP Nationals Winner speaking about his Nationals experience, "I can't believe it. What I think I learned most [from that weekend] is what hard work and desire can really do."

Congratulations Emerging Athletes!

The June 2013 EAP Regional Clinic Rider list is now available. Click here for the complete list of riders accepted into the 2013 Emerging Athletes Program.

The Georgia International Horse Park Regional Clinic, led by Clinician Bernie Traurig and Stable Manager Anne Thornbury is well under way in Conyers, GA. Visit our Facebook and stay tuned for coverage of this clinic coming soon!

The intensive four-day clinics will be taught by some of the country's top clinicians and stable managers. Please check the EAP Calendar for the Regional Clinic in your area. Contact each Regional Host for more auditing information.

EAP Celebrates Fifth Anniversary and Catches Up with Alumni

To celebrate its fifth year, members of the Emerging Athletes Program Task Force decided to ask some of the program's past participants to write about their EAP experience and update us on their equestrian progress.

Megan Devine of Louisville, KY, 2012 Nationals Alumna -

I participated in the 2012 EAP Regional Clinic at the University of Findlay in Ohio, as well as the 2012 National Training Session at Fields and Fences in Illinois.

The EAP seemed like the perfect opportunity for someone like me. I never had many opportunities to show or participate in clinics due to financial limitations, which is why I've worked as a groom for many years. I enjoy the work and as a college student could appreciate the focus on the educational aspect in the Horsemanship Quiz Challenge. Without the EAP I would never have been able to learn from such knowledgeable clinicians and riders.

Trainer Certification Program Offers Educational Options

Trainer Certification Program applicants have two exciting opportunities to fulfill the educational component of their TCP application:

Attend a TCP Clinic: Each TCP Clinic features at least one clinician over multiple days, who, using the principles of the American Forward Riding System, educates members on teaching skills. Check out the TCP Clinic Calendar for a list of upcoming TCP Clinics throughout the country.

Complete the Online Trainer Certification Course: In  response to USHJA member input that the educational requirement for the Trainer Certification Program be more affordable and easily accessible, USHJA partnered with EquestrianCoach.com to offer TCP applicants an online educational option. The cost of the Online Trainer Certification Course is $200, which includes a complimentary 6-month subscription of EquestrianCoach.com. This gives TCP applicants access to Equestrian Coach's extensive library of videos in addition to the TCP course materials.

Markel Insurance Company is proud to sponsor the Trainer Certification Program. Please visit their website to learn more about what they can do for you.

Contact Carrie Vaught at (859) 225-6703 for more information about the TCP and these educational opportunities.
