International Hunter Derby Championship

The International Hunter Derby Championships are set for August 13-15, 2015, in Lexington, KY. Qualifying for the 2015 Championship ends June 1, 2015, and all entries intending to compete in the Championship must be entered no later than July 22, 2015

 

Every horse enrolled in the USHJA International Hunter Derby Program that earns a minimum of $500 in USHJA International Hunter Derby classes, while enrolled, at competitions starting between June 2, 2014, and June 1, 2015, is eligible to compete.


The Championship prize money topped $180,000 in 2014, and once again 80 percent of the entry fees will be added to the guaranteed $100,000 to create the total prize money purse. In addition the Derby Challenge will offer $10,000 in prize money. The more horses that enter, the higher the total prize money becomes! We're looking forward to another great year!

Pre-Green Incentive Program Enrollment Increases on June 2; Enroll Soon!PGIP

Enrollment for the 2015 Pre-Green Incentive Program increases to $750 on June 2, so don't miss your chance to enroll your horse for $550 before the price goes up! Enrollment makes your horse eligible for Pre-Green Stake classes across the country, as well as the Pre-Green Incentive Championship.


The 
USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Championship, which consists of three rounds of competition, will celebrate its third anniversary at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, August 11-13, 2015. All entries intending to compete in the 2015 Championship must be entered no later than July 22, 2015, and enrolled horses must compete in a minimum of two USHJA Pre-Green Stake classes at competitions starting between December 1, 2013, and August 5, 2015. The 2014 Championship enjoyed a 22 percent increase in participation over the prior year with 131 horses competing for the title of USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Champion. The Championship prize money topped $186,000 in 2014, and once again 65 percent of annual enrollment fees and 50 percent of the entry fees make up the total prize money.

Mark Your Calendars: West Coast WCHR Hunter Spectacular and Sunset Gala WCHR

The 2015 World Championship Hunter Rider West Coast Hunter Spectacular is set to take place during the Blenheim June Classic I on Saturday, June 6, in San Juan Capistrano, California. All WCHR Members are eligible to participate in this class with fence height options set at 3'6, 3'9" or 4'0". The class will consist of two rounds with the top 12 horses called back for the second round and offers a minimum of $25,000 in prize money.

                                                           

Alongside the class set for 3 p.m., Blenheim's VIP Tent will be transformed for a "picture perfect" sunset dinner and fundraiser to support the WCHR program, which benefits the USHJA Foundation Horseman's Assistance Fund. Table sales are now open at www.ushja.org/WCHRWestCoast

Equitation Riders Prepare for the 2015 Hunterdon CupHunterdon

Top equitation riders from across the country have qualified for the 2015 USHJA Hunterdon Equitation Cup Classic, sponsored by Intermont Equestrian at Henry and Emory College, which takes place on July 6, 2015, at the U.S. Junior Hunter National Championships - East Coast in Devon, PA.
 

Named in honor of George Morris and his farm, Hunterdon, the Hunterdon Cup brings together competitors who have won a USEF Medal, ASPCA Maclay, USEF Show Jumping Talent Search, or Overall WIHS Equitation Classic during the qualifying year, and a rider may win the title only once. The three-round class combines the precision of equitation and handiness of hunters over a course set at 3'6".

Last year, Caitlin Boyle, a 17-year-old from Hampshire, IL, took the Hunterdon Cup title, aboard Michaela Kennedy's 14-year-old Mecklenburg gelding, Loredo. Past winners have included Lillie Keenan, Genevieve Zock, Sarah Milliren, Catherine Tyree, Taylor Ann Adams, and many more. To view this year's qualified riders, click here.

USHJA Offers Riders First of Its Kind Hunter Team Championship Experience in 2016ChAAHunter

Rider applications for the new Children's and Adult Amateur Hunter Regional Championships are now open! Designed to showcase the skills of riders who compete in the Children's and Adult Amateur hunter sections across the country, the Championships provide riders with a competitive team experience and an opportunity to earn Zone Horse of the Year bonus points in their respective Children's or Adult hunter section.

              

Dates and locations, as well as qualifying periods and application deadlines for the 2016 Regional Championships are:

  • South Championships: Atlanta Summer Classic II, Conyers, GA, Bob Bell, manager, June 22-26, 2016
    • Qualifying period runs June 22, 2015-April 23, 2016
    • Applications close April 23, 2016
  • Central Championships: Go Preview in Oklahoma City, OK, Phil Devita, manager, July 20-24, 2016
    • Qualifying period runs July 20, 2015-May 21, 2016
    • Applications close May 21, 2016
  • West Championships: Oregon High Desert Classic #1, Bend, OR, Dianne Johnson, manager, July 20-24, 2016
