Showing a Thoroughbred? Thoroughbred Hunter Points Count Toward HOTY! TB

Zone Horse of the Year Awards are highly coveted prizes across the country, and this year, Thoroughbreds are included among those receiving awards for their accomplishments. Effective for the 2015 competition year, Thoroughbred Hunter classes are C-rated for Zone Horse of the Year Awards (GR313.6).

 

Thoroughbred Hunter classes are open only to horses that are registered with USHJA and are in possession of Breed Registry papers. Fence heights are set at 3'0" with spreads not to exceed the height of the fence.

Mark Your Calendars: West Coast WCHR Hunter Spectacular and Sunset Gala WCHR

The 2015 World Championship Hunter Rider West Coast Hunter Spectacular is set to take place during the Blenheim June Classic I on Saturday, June 6, in San Juan Capistrano, California. All WCHR Members are eligible to participate in this class with fence height options set at 3'6, 3'9" or 4'0". The class will consist of two rounds with the top 12 horses called back for the second round and offers a minimum of $25,000 in prize money.

                                                               Alongside the class set for 3 p.m., Blenheim's Medal Club will be transformed for a sunset dinner and fundraiser to support the WCHR program, which benefits the USHJA Foundation Horseman's Assistance Fund. Equitation Riders Prepare for the 2015 Hunterdon CupHunterdon

Top equitation riders from across the country have qualified for the 2015 USHJA Hunterdon Equitation Cup Classic, sponsored by Intermont Equestrian at Henry and Emory College, which takes place on July 6, 2015, at the U.S. Junior Hunter National Championships - East Coast in Devon, PA.
 

Named in honor of George Morris and his farm, Hunterdon, the Hunterdon Cup brings together competitors who have won a USEF Medal, ASPCA Maclay, USEF Show Jumping Talent Search, or Overall WIHS Equitation Classic during the qualifying year, and a rider may win the title only once. The three-round class combines the precision of equitation and handiness of hunters over a course set at 3'6".

Last year, Caitlin Boyle, a 17-year-old from Hampshire, IL, took the Hunterdon Cup title, aboard Michaela Kennedy's 14-year-old Mecklenburg gelding, Loredo. Past winners have included Lillie Keenan, Genevieve Zock, Sarah Milliren, Catherine Tyree, Taylor Ann Adams, and many more. To view this year's qualified riders, click here.
