George Morris to Serve as Advisor to Newly Established Working Groups

The United States Hunter Jumper Association announces George Morris will serve as an Advisor for the Hunter and Jumper Working Groups. Representation on the Working Groups includes athletes, amateurs, owners, trainers, coaches, riders, licensed officials and competition organizers.

“The USHJA is delighted that George Morris has agreed to serve as an Advisor to the newly established Hunter and Jumper Working Groups. His perspective is that of both a traditionalist and a forward thinker.” stated USHJA President Bill Moroney.


2013 Zone Specifications are Now Available

In keeping with our promise to update members on news that matters most, USHJA is pleased to announce the 2013 Zone Specs and USEF approved Jumper Championships are now online. Competitors, trainers, and owners alike can be fully prepared when the new show season kicks off. LAST REMINDER-USHJA Officers & Director at-Large Nominations Deadline is September 30th!

Nominations for officers — Secretary, Treasurer and seven Directors at-Large positions will close at midnight on September 30th. To learn more about the process and nomination forms please click here.

Youth Award Application Deadline is October 1st

Applications for two awards that recognize youth members for their equestrian and horsemanship achievements are closing soon! The USHJA Youth Leadership Award and USHJA nominee for the USEF Youth Sportsman's Award identify potential future leaders in the equine industry who demonstrate an ongoing commitment and dedication to USHJA by promoting the equestrian sport, exhibiting characteristics that exemplify positive sportsmanship principles and who serve as role models for their peers.

Applicants for the USHJA Youth Leadership Award must be between 12 to 15 years of age, while USHJA nominees for the USEF Youth Sportsman's Award must be 17 years or younger. The application deadline for both youth awards is Monday, October 1, 2012

EAP Host Facility Application Deadline is October 1st

Don’t forget! Applications for facilities interested in hosting an Emerging Athletes Regional Clinic in 2013 must be received in the USHJA office or postmarked no later than Monday, October 1, 2012. The Host Facility does not have to be a show facility to be considered. Private farms, boarding facilities, universities, prep schools, et cetera may apply as long as the facility can meet USHJA and EAP requirements. Clinics must be offered between June 1 – August 31. EAP Host Facility Applications available on the EAP website.

Don’t Forget – Nominations for USHJA Amateur Sportsmanship & Owners Legacy Awards Close Soon

The October 15th deadline to nominate an amateur rider from your area who shows a high degree of excellence and integrity through supporting their fellow competitors and/or volunteering their time and resources to various aspects of the industry is quickly approaching. Success in the show ring is a secondary factor. Nominate them today for the USHJA Amateur Sportsmanship Award!

Nominations are also being accepted for The Mrs. A.C. Randolph Owners Legacy Award. This award was created to acknowledge a past or current owner who has been, or is, a true “patron” of the hunter/jumper industry. This award honors an owner who has created a legacy of giving back to the hunter/jumper sport through continued dedication and support.

Don’t miss the opportunity to honor the equestrians who give so much to your sport! October 15th is the deadline to submit nominations for both awards.

2012 USHJA Trainer Certification Program Clinics

Attendance at a recognized USHJA Trainer Certification Program Clinic will count towards the enrollment requirements for the Trainer Certification Program. TCP applicants may also fulfill their educational requirement by completing the Online Trainer Certification Course.
