WCHR Finals at the Capital Challenge Horse Show Wrap Up
Congratulations to all participants and winners at the 2011 WCHR Finals held at the Capital Challenge Horse Show.
In the closest finish ever in the 18-year history of the $7,500 World Championship Hunter Rider Professional Finals, John French claimed the title by just .08 points over Hunt Tosh in a nail-biting finish.
The class, presented by the John R. Ingram Fund, Greener Pastures and Bridlewood Farms, was a featured event of the Capital Challenge Horse Show, held at the Prince George's Equestrian Center in Upper Marlboro' MD.

Junior Hunter Challenge Winners Honored At Capital Challenge
Congratulations to the 2011 USHJA Outreach Junior Hunter Challenge regional award winners: Alex Beneson, Powell, OH; Chloe Bellerive, Keedysville, MD; Rebecca Edelman, Baltimore, MD;
Hannah Lerner, Los Angeles, CA; Mara Suzanne Mazar, Dublin, OH; and Paxton Sullivan, Castaic, CA.
Each winner was invited to attend the Capital Challenge Horse Show as special guests of the World Championship Hunter Rider program. Beneson, Bellerive, Edelman and Mazar were able to make the trip and

New USHJA/IHSA College Equestrian Lettering Program
The United States Hunter Jumper Association (USHJA) in partnership with the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) is proud to offer the USHJA/IHSA
College Equestrian Lettering Program to our collegiate members. The dates of the program will run June 1st through May 31st of the USEF calendar year; however
the inaugural year will run August 1, 2011 through May 31, 2012.

New in 2012: Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Presented by Sweet Briar College
Attention all youth members: Test your horsemanship knowledge this February with one of USHJA's newest programs, the Horsemanship Quiz Challenge!
The Horsemanship Quiz Challenge (HQC) educates and recognizes young equestrians who have exceptional horsemanship knowledge. Youth members have up
to seven months to study the USHJA Horsemanship Study Guide (coming soon) and take the Level One quiz online. High scoring members advance to the
more challenging Level Two quiz, and those top ranked scores advance to Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Finals. The Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Finals
are held in conjunction with EAP Nationals and incorporates a hands-on practicum. This program is open to all levels of youth horsemen and horsewomen,
regardless of their competition achievements.

2012-13 Derby Applications Re-Open!
The USHJA High Performance Hunter Committee, with approval of the USHJA Board of Directors, is removing the limit on the number of competitions allowed to host USHJA
International Hunter Derby classes, starting with the 2012-13 Qualifying Series. Therefore the application process for hosting a USHJA International Hunter Derby class
between June 2, 2012 – June 1, 2013 has been re-opened through November 1, 2011, to accommodate competitions that may choose to apply under the new fee structure. This
time period is the twelve (12) month qualifying period for the USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals to be held in 2013. Completed applications must be received in
the USHJA office or postmarked on or before 5 pm Eastern Time on November 1st to be considered.

Zone 4 Northern Finals Rescheduled
In hopes of preventing the potential exposure and spread of the equine herpesvirus-1 (EHV-1) the Zone 4 Northern Finals at Gallop in the
Glen Horse Show in New Market, TN on October 6-8 has been cancelled.
The Zone 4 Hunter Committee has rescheduled the Northern Finals to be held at the Atlanta Fall Classic I in Conyers, GA on November 9-13, 2011.

The USHJA is now offering standard Trainer Certification Program Clinics (TCP Clinics) as well as Trainer's Symposiums.
Attendance at a recognized USHJA Trainer Certification Program Clinic will count towards the enrollment requirements for the Trainer Certification Program.
