USHJA Expands Affiliate
Sportsmanship Awards Program to Include Riding
Instructors
In our continuing effort to embrace the
foundation level of the horse show industry, the USHJA is proud to
announce the addition of a Riding Instructor Award category to the
Affiliate Sportsmanship Awards Program. This Program currently
recognizes a Junior, Amateur and Professional from each of our Affiliate
Associations.
The goal of the
Affiliate Riding Instructor Award is to recognize those individuals who
are dedicated to teaching and provide riders with their initiation to the
sport. By mentoring riders and instructing them in good
horsemanship, riding basics and the love and respect of the horse, they
are building the strong foundation of our future horsemen. This
award is designed to recognize those dedicated teachers who have spent
their time “in the ring” encouraging love and growth of our sport to entry
level riders, primarily at unrecognized competition level.
Recipients of
this award must be at minimum an Outreach member of the USHJA, at least 18
years of age and in good standing with USHJA. Additionally, the
nominating Affiliate Association must be a current Affiliate member of
USHJA.
For questions or
additional information regarding the Affiliate Sportsmanship Award
Program, please contact Christine Kennedy at 859-825-6009 or via e-mail at
ckennedy@ushja.org.

USHJA Competitions Directory
Attention Hunter
Jumper Horse Show Managers: The USHJA Competition and
Facilities Directory, created by the USHJA Show Standards Committee, is
now live on the USHJA website. This Directory will allow show managers to
advertise their USEF licensed, as well as their unrecognized, Hunter
Jumper Competitions. As USHJA receives this competition data
from the show managers, a search function will be added to the Directory,
so that competitors can search the competitions based on specific
criteria. In 2009, this Directory will also be linked with the
Members Choice Awards; a program awarding competitions in several
different categories for excellence. This service is
completely free for Show Managers and will provide advertising for your
competition all year long. So don't delay, please include your
competition(s) in the USHJA Competition's and Facilities Directory today.
Click here to view the directory or to add your competition.

through its Affiliate Organizations Medal Classes primarily offered at
local and unrecognized horse shows.
The goal of this program is to increase the USHJA
membership and outreach in the equestrian community, by further informing
and educating individuals who partake in equestrian sports at the
unrecognized and local horse show level and demonstrating that USHJA has
something to offer them through its many programs, and shared involvement
with the horse. Click here for more information on this program.
