USHJA Seeks Nominations for Three Prestigious Awards

USHJA is now accepting nominations for the 2012 Vital Staff, the Jane Marshall Dillon, and the Lifetime Achievement Awards.

  • The Vital Staff Award was created to honor the support staff of our sport, many times working behind the scenes, whose current role is essential to the success of our horse shows. We want to recognize these announcers, starters, secretaries, technical coordinators, facility managers and their crews, ring crews and assistants of every type, who every day assist in moving our sport forward. Each year, we honor two recipients of this award at the USHJA Annual Meeting. One honoree will be from the East and one from the West, with the Mississippi River serving as the dividing line.

  • The Jane Marshall Dillon Award was created in 2010 to recognize the dedication of equestrian teachers within the hunter/jumper discipline who have devoted their lives to instilling the values of horsemanship, integrity, and hard work in their students.

  • The Lifetime Achievement Award was first presented in 2008 to honor members who dedicated their lives to furthering the hunter/jumper discipline on a National platform and whose involvement in the sport and the USHJA has benefited the industry. The 2012 recipients will have their names added to the Eugene R. Mische Perpetual Trophy.

Written nominations must include: the nominee's name; the city and state of residence; supporting accomplishments and accolades; and any other information pertinent to their involvement in the horse industry. Nominators should also include their name, USHJA member number, mailing address and daytime telephone number so the USHJA may contact them for additional details. The nomination form can be downloaded from the USHJA website.

Nominations for the Jane Marshall Dillon and Lifetime Achievement Awards must be received in the USHJA office by July 27, 2012 and for the Vital Staff by October 5, 2012. Please submit questions and/or nominations to Marla Holt or mail them to 3870 Cigar Lane, Lexington, KY 40511.
