Participation in this year's contest represented 97 AHP members and 782 entries. Held since 1974, the AHP Annual Awards Contest provides members with an opportunity to be recognized for excellence in equine publishing. USHJA In Stride magazine, won the Horse Care - Print (circulation 20,000 and over-15 entries) category for "Providing Quality Care in a Faltering Economy" by Rachelle Wilhelm in the February 2009 issue. USHJA In Stride also placed third in the Event Coverage Editorial Content Print (circulation 20,000 and over-11 entries) for coverage of the 2009 International Hunter Derby Finals by Rachelle Wilhelm in the October 2009 issue, and an honorable mention in the Publication Staff Advertisement (circulation 10,000 and over-16 entries) categories for the 2009 International Hunter Derby Finals advertisement designed by Matthew Todd. USHJA.org took first place, against 14 entries, in the Online Equine Related Blog category for the 2009 "USHJA Hunter Derby Finals Blog" August 2009 by Jeannie Blancq Putney. "I could not be more proud of our magazine and of the effort our staff, committees, affiliates and our partners at AIM Equine Network put forward each issue. To be recognized at AHP is perhaps the biggest honor an equine publication can receive. It is hard to believe just a few short years ago this publication had its beginnings as a one-page newsletter," said Whitney Allen, Director of Marketing and Communications for USHJA. "We are also ecstatic to have won in the Equine Related Blog category. USHJA.org has grown leaps and bounds since 2004. An online blog was new to USHJA so to be recognized our first year out is a great accomplishment." EAP Level II Riders Announced Please check the website for a complete list of the riders that have been invited to participate in the Level II Emerging Athletes Training Sessions. The Level II programs kick off July 19-20 at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City, OK with clinician Eliza Shuford. A full schedule of all of the Level II sessions is available. Auditors are welcome at each training session. Changes to the 2010 Emerging Pro Division The Emerging Pro Division will now be tracked as one group rather than two groups divided by height. Like the other World Championship Hunter Rider (WCHR) divisions, riders will earn points on their highest-placed horse at a WCHR member event, regardless of whether those points were earned from the pre-green or rated sections. The top 10 in the National standings after the divisions at Capital Challenge, plus the top six from each region will be invited to participate in the Emerging Pro Challenge at CCHS. The Challenge class results will be added to the rider points after the divisions at Capital Challenge, and the national Emerging Pro Champion will be pinned following the Challenge class. The revised specs for this division are as follows: Program Details
