Lifetime Earnings for USHJA International Derby Winners Now Online

Since the inception of the USHJA International Hunter Derby program in 2008 more than $3 MILLION dollars has been awarded to the sport’s elite athletes. USHJA has launched a Lifetime Earnings data base on our web site to allow both fans and participants the ability to follow the career winnings of their favorites.

USHJA wishes to recognize the accomplishments of these exceptional competitors and to sincerely thank all the show competition managers across the country for their increasing support of the International Hunter Derby Series and Finals. The popularity and success of USHJA Derby programs continues to grow largely in part to the generous support of competition managers throughout the US. USHJA Announces American Association of Professional Farriers as an Educational Content Provider

USHJA members will have access to AAPF newsletters, articles providing tips and advice on hoofcare, video on proper care techniques, and a resource to the best accredited farriers.

"This educational partnership will be a mutually beneficial relationship for the memberships of both organizations," said Scott Lampert APF, director of the AAPF. "USHJA members will have direct access to many of the premier hunter/jumper farriers in North America. Through our respective websites they'll have an ever enhancing resource for equine hoofcare."

Deadline for USHJA Jane Marshall Dillon & Lifetime Achievement Awards is July 27th!

USHJA is still accepting nominations for the 2012 Jane Marshall Dillon, and the Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Nominations for the Jane Marshall Dillon and Lifetime Achievement Awards must be received in the USHJA office by July 27, 2012. Please submit questions and/or nominations to Marla Holt or mail them to 3870 Cigar Lane, Lexington, KY 40511.

USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals Entries Close August 1st

Entries for the 2012 Derby Finals presented by Dietrich Equine Insurance must be received in The Bluegrass Festival office or postmarked no later than August 1, 2012. All horses that earned a minimum of $500 in USHJA International Hunter Derby classes during the qualifying period are eligible. The Derby Finals will be held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY on August 17-18, 2012. A list of all qualified horses can be found on the Derby Finals Qualifying page. Both the Derby Finals prize list and Derby Finals entry form are also available online.

Limited Edition International Hunter Derby Finals Poster by Artist Jan Lukens Now Available

Renowned equestrian artist Jan Lukens has immortalized last year’s $100,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals champion Lillie Keenan on canvas. This beautiful piece is also the artwork for the 2012 Derby Finals poster which is now available at the shop USHJA web site.

Last Chance to Make Your Vote Count!

The 2012 USHJA Zone Committee Elections are officially open. Please log-in using your USHJA/USEF account information. If you do not have an account ID and password, you may create one by going to USEF.org.

Once signed in you will be taken directly to the ballot for the zone in which you are registered. Please make your selections carefully as you will only be allowed to submit your vote once! You may choose up to the maximum number of nominees listed at the top of your ballot. The election will close on August 1st and the committees will be reseated on or before November 1st.

The United States Hunter Jumper Association welcomes Kentucky Equine Research as the latest USHJA Educational Provider. USHJA members will have access to the KER educational resources including the KER newsletters, research by leading experts in nutrition, and articles providing tips and advice on nutrition.

Reminder – 2013 WCHR Member Event Host Applications Now Being Accepted!

On July 1, 2012 the USHJA opened the application process for competitions interested in hosting a World Championship Hunter Rider Member Event in 2013. The WCHR Program recognizes and celebrates the hunter rider through regional and national awards programs, culminating in the WCHR Finals at The Capital Challenge Horse Show. All AA and A-rated competitions are eligible to apply through August 15. Application Packets are now available on the WCHR Managers webpage.

Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Closes September 1st

Test your horsemanship knowledge today with the Horsemanship Quiz Challenge presented by Sweet Briar College! But hurry, this opportunity ends on September 1! The HQC educates and recognizes young equestrians who have exceptional horsemanship knowledge. The goal of this program is to ignite passion for advancing horsemanship education and make it an integral part of equestrian life.

Any current USHJA junior or amateur member under 21 years of age (according to USEF rules) is encouraged to participate in the program, regardless of their competition achievements. All participants scoring 90% or higher on the Level One Quiz advance to the more challenging Level Two Quiz, and the top-scoring participants from Level Two advance to the HQC Finals, held in conjunction with the Emerging Athletes Program National Training Session in November 2012.
