So They Selected Two Essex Classics, a leading innovator of design
for today's equestrian needs in riding shirts, has signed on with the
United States Hunter Jumper Association as the Title Sponsor of the 2008
USHJA Hunterdon Cup Equitation Class as well as a Product Sponsor for the
USHJA International Hunter Derby for the remainder of the 2008/2009
series. "Essex Classics has been an advertiser with
USHJA In Stride Magazine since its inaugural issue in the Spring of 2006.
The USHJA is pleased to see Essex Classics expand their support of the
Association through these sponsorships," stated William Moroney, USHJA
President. As Title Sponsor of the 2008 USHJA Hunterdon
Equitation Cup, Essex Classics will provide support and awards for all the
competitors. As a Product Sponsor for the 2008/2009 USHJA International
Hunter Derby Series, Essex Classics will be providing the top six riders
in each class an Essex Classics shirt as well as product support at the
Finals. "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to
partner with the USHJA for both the 2008 Hunterdon Equitation Cup and the
International Hunter Derby Series. The junior riders who compete in the
Hunterdon Equitation Cup are highly disciplined students who invest
tremendous effort in perfecting their riding skills. They are the future
generation of our sport who will carry on the classical training
principles of their trainers, many of whom were mentored by the legendary
George Morris," stated Cathy Sacher, President of Essex
Classics. Cathy went on to say, "We are also very proud
to support the USHJA hunter initiative in the creation of the
International Hunter Derby Series. This is a pivotal development that will
elevate hunters to the stature of the past and imbue the sport with the
excitement that it deserves!"
Essex Classics Signature riding shirts use the
most luxurious European designed cotton fabrics and feature the most
exquisite tailoring details. Among their most popular shirts, Essex
Performance Collection riding shirts are constructed from CoolMax, a
specialty fabric designed to keep riders cool during
competitions. The
USHJA Hunterdon Cup Equitation Class began in 2005 and was developed as a
unique equitation class that combines the precision of equitation and
handiness of hunters. This year’s class will be held on August 5, 2008 at
the USEF Junior Hunter National Championships-East Coast in Saugerties ,
NY . For qualifying information please contact Kristyn Kay at kkay@ushja.org or 859-225-2054.
_____________________ Dr. Andrew Weiner Weighs
In on "What Do We Want USHJA to Be?" In my work as a consultant for a variety of
organizations, I have an opportunity to see how different associations
function. Although I am called in to address a variety of issues, I seem
to find a common thread which explains the ostensible or surface problem
that each organization encounters. What I mean is that the symptoms of the
problems vary from association to association but, the root causes appear
to be the same. Associations have a tendency not to think
about the long term future. I distinguish “long term” future from “short
term future” insofar as many associations have strategic plans which
define short term future. I am talking more about “what you want to be
when you grow up or how much do you want to grow up and in what ways do
you want to grow up.” These lofty issues
don’t seem to hold the interest of members who prefer tackling the tough
and thorny issues of day to day survival. Who has time to think about the
long term future when we are faced with pressing challenges of the day? A
fair question indeed but, a major mistake if an organization doesn’t
visualize what it wants to look like in 10 plus years.
