2007 Deadline for Reduced Registration for the
California Trainers Symposium
Registration and host hotel information for the San
Juan Capistrano, CA symposium is now available. Click

The Symposiums offer attendees a rare
opportunity to participate in practical training sessions and round table
discussions with top professionals in the industry. The schedule offers two days of
hunters, equitation and jumpers.
Each of the disciplines is broken into sections: i.e. Junior
Hunters, Intermediate Equitation and Junior/Amateur Owner Jumpers. The sections will have 3-4
demonstration riders for the clinician to work and explain different
techniques, exercises and tips for various levels of riders and
horses. This is a great
opportunity for professionals and members to exchange thoughts and ideas
on training exercises, training aids, and business practices. Click here to view the complete

August 7, 2007 USHJA
Hunterdon Cup Equitation Class: The 2nd Annual USHJA
Hunterdon Cup presented by World Equestrian Brands will be
held August 7, 2007 in Saugerties, NY at the HITS on the Hudson
show facility held in conjunction with the USEF East Coast
Junior Hunter Finals.
How does a rider qualify for the
USHJA Hunterdon Cup? The "Hunterdon Cup" is open to any rider
that is an active USHJA Junior Member and has won a USEF Medal, ASPCA
Maclay, USEF Show Jumping Talent Search, or WIHS Classic through July 1,
2007. Once a rider has won the USHJA Hunterdon Cup he/she will not be
allowed to compete again and will be invited to present awards for the
following year.
How do you
enter? The entry blank is available in the 2007 USEF East
Coast Junior Hunter Finals prize list .

Youth Charter Award Nominations Deadline Nominations should be sent to your zone
chairman between August 1, 2007 and September 28, 2007; click here to see more information on your zone.
Each zone will then decide on one nominee to represent the zone. Once each
zone has submitted one nominee to the USHJA Youth Council this committee
will then decide the final USHJA nominee and submit the name to USEF
before October 31, 2007. Click here for the USHJA nomination Form.
The USHJA nominee will be recognized each year at the USHJA Evening of
Equestrians Awards Dinner at annual meeting. Our nominee will be honored
with the perpetual USHJA Youth Charter Revere Bowl. This trophy was
donated by Susan Schoellkopf in memory of Stephen Comunale Jr.

2007 USHJA Amateur
Sportsmanship Award Nomination Deadline
USHJA is now accepting nominations
for the 2007 Amateur Sportsmanship Award. The accolades for the candidates
must be earned from December 1st-September 7th of the current competition
year. The nominees for the award may come from exhibitors, trainers,
colleagues or peers.
Name, contact information, biography, and at least one letter of recommendation must be submitted to
USHJA by Tuesday, October 2, 2007. (Please note: the nominee must be an
active or associate member of USHJA). More than one recommendation form
maybe submitted but no more than three will be considered for the award.
The members of the USHJA Amateurs Committee will review the nominations
and select the winner.

Zone 5 Horsemanship Class and
$10,000 Scholarship Reminder for
all Zone 5 Juniors! The Zone 5 Horsemanship Class will be held again
during the Kentucky National Horse Show. The class will be held on
Friday evening, September 28 and can be entered by Zone 5 members instead
of, but not in addition to, the Maclay regional warm-up. Pledges
have been made by several major vendors for great prizes. As in the
past, 25% will be based on a written test (given mid-day September 28)
based on George Morris' book "Hunter Seat Equitation" 25% on the flat
phase and 50% on the jumping phase. Look for more detail in our
advertisement in the Kentucky National prize list and on the USHJA
website.
Also, if you are a high school senior, it is not too late
to apply for the 2007 Zone 5 scholarship. $10,000.00 will be awarded
to the winner. More information is available on the USHJA website,
from your Zone 5 committee, your local organization or from your local
show managers.
