Sportsmanship Criteria Reduced Registration for the California Trainers Symposium Registration and host hotel information for the San Juan Capistrano, CA symposium is now available. Click here to register and make your hotel reservations. Register by August 1 to receive the special reduced registration rate! The Symposiums offer attendees a rare opportunity to participate in practical training sessions and round table discussions with top professionals in the industry. The schedule offers two days of hunters, equitation and jumpers. Each of the disciplines is broken into sections: i.e. Junior Hunters, Intermediate Equitation and Junior/Amateur Owner Jumpers. The sections will have 3-4 demonstration riders for the clinician to work and explain different techniques, exercises and tips for various levels of riders and horses. This is a great opportunity for professionals and members to exchange thoughts and ideas on training exercises, training aids, and business practices. Zone 9 Forums: September 14 - Friday - at the Northwest Autumn Classic - after the show. For more information please contact Melissa Pylant at mpylant@ushja.org. Zone 5 Horsemanship Class and $10,000 Scholarship Reminder for all Zone 5 Juniors! The Zone 5 Horsemanship Class will be held again during the Kentucky National Horse Show. The class will be held on Friday evening, September 28 and can be entered by Zone 5 members instead of, but not in addition to, the Maclay regional warm-up. Pledges have been made by several major vendors for great prizes. As in the past, 25% will be based on a written test (given mid-day September 28) based on George Morris' book "Hunter Seat Equitation", 25% on the flat phase and 50% on the jumping phase. Look for more details in our advertisement in the Kentucky National prize list and on the USHJA website. Also, if you are a high school senior, it is not too late to apply for the 2007 Zone 5 Scholarship. $10,000.00 will be awarded to the winner. More information is available on the USHJA website, from your Zone 5 committee, your local organization or from your local show managers.
