Affiliates & Affiliate Programs
USHJA Outreach Level Competitions
- To set a minimum standard for local competitions that want the right to refer to the USEF
rulebook for governance without the USEF or the USHJA having any regulatory function
regarding their association or horse shows.
- To create a level of horse shows that will be affiliated with USHJA, the USEF - recognized
affiliate for the hunter and jumper disciplines, but not with USEF. Shows that meet the
program requirements may become affiliated and are eligible for participation in the program,
however, USHJA is not licensing or sanctioning these shows.
- To encourage participation in the USHJA at the Affiliate Organization and Outreach Member
levels.
- To create four USHJA sponsored “Outreach” Medal Classes with national criteria that are
designed for specifically for Outreach members and which may only be offered at the
Outreach Competitions.
- No mileage restrictions other than what the affiliated organization may require
- License Fee:
$25.00 per show per year for shows that are recognized by a USHJA Affiliate organization
$50.00 per show per year for shows that are not recognized by a USHJA Affiliate organization
- Membership requirements:
Show Manager – must be a current USHJA Member at any level
Competitors – to compete in the proposed Outreach Medal classes, riders must be a current USHJA Member at the Outreach or higher
Judge – Recommend USEF recorded or recognized judge, but not required. Must be USHJA member and at least 21 years of age
- Steward
Show management must designate one person (Designated Mediator) to resolve any disputes.
Recommend having a USEF Steward on site to serve in this capacity or on call to be a
resource for the designated mediator
- EMT/1st Responder – Required on show grounds
- Insurance
Proof of Insurance (Minimum $1 million per occurrence/$1 million
aggregate) must be submitted to USHJA 30 days in advance of competition.
Each show is free to choose their own insurance
company as long as the USHJA is listed as “additional insured” on the liability policy
for each Outreach Competition and the minimum requirements of coverage are met.
- Medications– Affiliate organizations requirements
- Veterinarian– Must be on call
- Farrier– Should be on call
- Accident Preparedness Plan– Recommended but not required
- Prize List
Must include USHJA Outreach Membership application form to USHJA, either in hard
copy or electronically, 30 days in advance of show date.
- Outreach Equitation classes- Required to offer at least 2 of the 4 Outreach Medal classes
Compliance with USHJA Outreach Competition requirements will be the responsibility
of the individual horse show management.
