USHJA Outreach Medal Standings

Specifications
To be held at USHJA Outreach Competitions, open to Junior and Adult Amateur riders. To be competition over a course of not less than 6 obstacles and must include at least one change of direction. Further testing is at the judge’s discretion. Testing may occur at the completion of all trips or tests may be incorporated into the original course. Riders who have qualified for any National medal at 3’6” or above are ineligible to compete in Outreach Medals.

Bronze Medal – May be held at 2’ to 2’3” - Riders may not cross enter into any class exceeding 2’6” at the same competition. No combinations are allowed at this height.

Silver Medal - 2’6” - Riders may not cross enter into any class exceeding 3’ at the same competition. No combinations are allowed at this height. Riders may not have competed in a national medal class at 3’ or higher.

Gold Medal - 3’ - Riders may not cross enter into any class exceeding 3’3” at the same competition. Combinations and further testing are encouraged.

Platinum Medal - 3’3” – Combinations and further testing are encouraged.

Requirements
• USHJA Outreach Medals may only be offered at USHJA Outreach Competitions.
• A minimum of two medal classes must be offered at each competition.
• Classes can be run in conjunction with other classes and/or medals currently offered that have
comparable specifications. However, if classes are run concurrently with another medal class
that does not require USHJA membership a second set of placings including only those who
are USHJA members are the ones that will be submitted to USHJA for the Outreach Medal
Awards Program. Please ask your judge to mark placings through 12 if available to assist
you in computing the placings for USHJA members.
• Management may opt to run a Junior and Amateur section for each height level or they may offer a combined Jr./Amateur medal.
• Riders may only compete in one Outreach medal per competition.
• Three USHJA members/exhibitors must complete the course for the class to count.
• Management must submit results to USHJA within 10 days of the completion of the competition.
• $5 per entry for each USHJA member participating must be submitted to USHJA with results. This money will be designated towards the support of the high point awards for the medals.

Awards
Riders who are current USHJA members, at any level, will receive points towards a high point award. One high point award will be presented for each medal to the rider (Jr. or Amateur) who accrues the most points annually in each state. State awards are based on the residency of the rider. The qualifying period for the high point award will be from December 1st to November 30th of the current competition year. The winners from each state will be invited to the USHJA Annual Meeting to receive their awards.

Points
Points are tabulated based upon the number of USHJA entries in the class plus one. First place will receive point’s equal to the number of entries in the class plus one additional point. Second through sixth place will receive points equal to the riders placing subtracted from the number of points available for first place. (i.e. Third place entry in a class of ten - Eleven points minus third place = 8 points)
Three people in a class: 4, 2, 1
Four people in a class: 5, 3, 2, 1
Five people in a class: 6, 4, 3, 2, 1
Six people in a class: 7, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1
Seven people in a class: 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2
Eight people in a class: 9, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3
Nine people in a class: 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4
