Certified Trainer Responsibilities
Involvement in Professional Organizations and Affiliations
All USHJA Certified Trainers are encouraged to promote our sport in a positive, ethical, and
professional manner.
We want all USHJA Certified Trainers to feel a great responsibility toward their chosen sports.
This responsibility can be manifested in many ways, including:
- Attending and conducting clinics.
- Networking with other professionals at symposiums.
- Judging.
- Mentoring.
- Publishing books and articles on relevant topics.
In short, the best way to grow as a trainer is to become actively involved in the riding
community.
The USHJA encourages all members, from all levels of the sport to
actively participate in regional affiliations that promote Hunters, Jumpers, and Hunter Seat
Equitation.
The largest USHJA committees are the Affiliate Committees.
- The Four Affiliate Committees are geographically divided into Southeast, Northeast,
Central, and Western Affiliate regions.
- Each region boasts multiple Affiliate Organizations, including breed-specific,
discipline-specific, and location-specific entities.
The Affiliated Organizations all have a voice on a wide range of issues affecting USHJA members,
including:
- Show standards.
- Horse welfare concerns.
- Continuing education offerings.
- Clinic bookings, and more.
Only by becoming involved in professional organizations and affiliations can you make your mark
and make a difference in our sport.
"Never forget that we are trying to produce horsemen and not just show winners."
George Morris.
