Zone II Hunter News

May 2007

Summer is almost here and hopefully everyone is enjoying the spring weather. We would like to give everyone a quick update on our annual USHJA “Super Clinic” that was held in Zone 2 as well as update everyone on the upcoming Zone specification drafts. As always, we welcome any input. Please send any questions or comments to Melissa Pylant at mpylant@ushja.org. Thank you and have a great summer!

Super Clinic
The annual USHJA “Super Clinic” was held in Zone 2 during the month of April at Suffolk County Farm in Long Island, NY and was hosted by Zone 2 Hunter Committee Chair Jim Rice. We were proud to have top professional riders Norman Dello Joio and Danny Robertshaw as our clinicians. Over the two days of excellent instruction we saw over 50 participants as well as many spectators. We have had a tremendous response to this clinic and we have had numerous requests for similar clinics, especially in the northern and western parts of Zone 2.

With so many requests, we would like to ask that if anyone is interested in planning and hosting a clinic in Zone 2, that they please contact Melanie Fransen at mfransen@ushja.org. Assistance is available for hiring clinicians as well as for organizing and promoting the clinic. This is a great opportunity to really get involved in your zone.

Zone Specifications
The Zone 2 Hunter and Jumper Committees will be finalizing a draft of the zone specifications to be placed on the USHJA Zone 2 website for everyone to view and comment on. These drafts are due on July 1 and will be posted on the website shortly thereafter. We are asking all Zone 2 members for their input, suggestions and concerns so that we can make the 2008 zone specifications better for our members. Because of the difficulty in scheduling forums that are convenient for a wide range of our members, we would like to try using email instead. Please send your comments to Melissa Pylant at mpylant@ushja.org.
