Zone 10 Jumper News

California and Nevada riders have jumped into the 2007 show season
at full force. As Chairman of the Zone 10 Jumper Committee, I plan
to communicate regularly with our 1,500 members who checked "Jumper"
when they joined USEF, as well as the other approximate 2,500 members
who checked "Hunter/ Equitation." Regular Zone 10 Jumper
News e-mail updates and postings on the Zone 10 Jumper page on the
USHJA website (http://ushja.org/committees/jumper_zone10.shtml)
will be our primary methods of communication.
World Cup Finals
The World Cup Finals are rapidly approaching, and for the fourth
time they will in Las Vegas (NV) in our Zone. For the second year,
the Dressage Finals will be held in conjunction. I urge you to attend
the World Cup Finals. What an incredible opportunity to see the
World's best horses and riders. If you haven't bought tickets, there

With only two qualifying events left, Richard Spooner has a commanding
lead and looks to be headed to yet another World Cup Finals. PCHA's
2005 Rookie of the Year, Jill Humphrey is second in the standings.
She has been having an incredible season aboard Rudy Leone's Kaskaya.
Rich Fellers is sitting third and Mandy Porter is in fourth. The
West Coast League sends four representatives to the World Cup Finals.

Young Riders
The North American Junior & Young Rider Championships are one
of the flagship activities of our Zone. Every year our best Junior
riders (14-17) and Young Riders (16-21) contest a challenging system
of selection trials to determine which horse and rider pairs will
represent our Zone at the Championships. Once again Mike and Penny
Ross are hosting the event at the Virginia Horse Center in Lexington,
VA. This is the only FEI championship held in North America.

Zone 10 Jumper is conducting five selection trials and the fifth
trial is mandatory. Thank you to all of the show managers hosting
our Zone 10 Jumper Young Rider selection trials.

Prix des States
The Adequan/ USEF National Junior Jumper Championships are held
each year during the Pennsylvania National Horse Show. Zone 10 has
a rich history of earning medals at this prestigious competition,
and I am sure that in 2007 we will field a competitive team of talented
horses and riders. Complete information and application information

the link at the top of this article.) Standings will be tracked
on the USEF website.
Pony Jumpers
The USEF Pony Finals has included a National Pony Jumper Championship
offering both team awards and individual awards. The complete information
packet and application are online on the Zone 10 Jumper page on
the USHJA website. (See the link at the top of this article.)
Zone 10 Jumper Committee
I want to thank the entire Zone 10 Jumper Committee and welcome
our newest members: Charlotte Skinner and Carol Dean-Porter. They
will both contribute a lot to our Committee and Zone 10 Jumper activities.
